Pareto rule

I love the slogan “Done is better than perfect”. And the pareto rule is a good rule of thumb for this approach. And it serves the inspect and adapt principle.

The Pareto Rule, also known as the 80/20 Principle, states that roughly 80% of effects come from 20% of causes. This concept, introduced by economist Vilfredo Pareto, is widely applicable in various fields. For example, in business, it suggests that 80% of sales often come from 20% of customers. In productivity, it means that 80% of results can be achieved by focusing on the top 20% of tasks. Understanding and applying the Pareto Rule helps prioritize efforts, enabling individuals and organizations to focus on high-impact activities, thereby maximizing efficiency and effectiveness.
